Randy Black (born (1963-11-17) November 17, 1963 (age 58)) is a Canadian-born rock drummer and recording artist known best for his stints as the drummer for Bif Naked (1998), Annihilator (1993–1996, 2002–2003), Primal Fear (2003–2014) and DuskMachine (2014-present). Although Black's actual acoustic drum configuration is not unique to the field of drumming, Randy's playing style is notable for his ability to play ambidextrously with a symmetrical set of cymbals, specifically a dual set of remote hi-hats and ride cymbals to his right and to his left respectively.

Black is a native of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. He got his first professional start in 1980 with a band called "The Edge". He did not start touring to any large degree until he joined the band "The Kaotics" in 1982. He then joined the band Click in 1984, who were known for their covers of material by bands such as Journey and Rush. The four members of Click stayed together and toured for nine years without a personnel change.

In 1993, Black moved to Vancouver, Canada and joined Annihilator. Randy’s bandmates were astonished at his technical precision and even dubbed him the “human drum machine".

In 1998, Black did some recording work with Bif Naked on the album I Bificus. It was shortly after this that Randy moved to Germany. He also did some more recording with Annihilator. In 2003, Randy joined the German heavy metal band Primal Fear, replacing original drummer Klaus Sperling.

In June 2011, Randy announced that he would be officially endorsing Pearl Drums.

On August 11th 2014, Primal Fear announced that due to irreconcilable differences between singer Ralf Scheepers and him, Randy left the band effective after their performance at Summer Breeze Festival on August 15th.

In March 2015 it was announced on Facebook that: "Destruction longtime drummer Vaaver will not be able to complete the upcoming North American tour with Sepultura and Arsis due to the birth of his second child. Standing in for Vaaver will be longtime Primal Fear/Annihilator drummer (and current DuskMachine member), Randy Black. Destruction frontman, Schmier, states “I've known Randy for many years. He’s a down to earth guy and a killer drummer! So when we thought about who could replace Vaaver on this North American tour, only a few drummers came to my mind and Randy was our first choice. Who else could do a stand-in job like this with a great attitude and amazing skills! It will be a great experience for us to play with such a powerhouse drummer and I’m sure DESTRUCTION fans will appreciate his performance as well!"

Vaaver states that “I am going to be a father for the second time in my life and it's going to happen in June of 2015. I therefore have to apologize to all our fans for not being able to participate in the 2015 spring North American tour. I am convinced that Randy, an amazing drummer, a truly experienced thrasher, and a good friend of ours, will smoothly take over my drum throne for that period and will set the stage on fire.”

Randy Black adds "I take this as a very cool challenge and an honor to step in on drums for Vaaver to help the guys out and be a part of this great tour! I can assure the DESTRUCTION fans that I’m working my ass off getting the drum parts tight and brutal!" "
