Mike Odabashian has been been studying percussion for over 20 years. As an avid hand drummer and world class drum set player, Mike’s unique approach to music and rhythm makes him the highly in-demand drummer he is today. By age 14, he was a working pro playing cover gigs and studying with multiple drum instructors. In 2005, Mike enrolled in the Bachelors of Music Classical Percussion Performance program at Rhode Island College. It was here that he developed a solid musical foundation in drumming and music theory. Mike also attended Berkelee College of Music in Boston and studied under Mike Mangini of Dream Theater and Extreme. Mangini’s amazing teaching system, from his approach to technique, to his entire drumset philosophy changed Mike Odabashian as a drummer and proved to be an invaluable experience.

Shortly after graduation, Mike began touring with Interscope Records recording artist Zander Bleck. Together they opened for David Cook, The Wanted, 3rd Eye Blind, The Cranberries and more. As an in-demand session player, Mike was the first call for session work at Red13 Media and Mix One Studios in Boston. Numerous tracks he performed on were used by ESPN, The New England Patriots and countless local artists. In addition to being a music scholar, touring drummer and session player, Mike also has a long history of teaching at Al Drews Music Center, one of the oldest Music Schools in New England. Versed in a plethora of styles, Mike has a fantastic approach to teaching and helps students of all ages and skill levels get the most out of his or her playing.

Today, Mike lives in Los Angeles and is the drummer for the alternative hard rock band Kicking Harold.
