Cody Hanson, drummer for the American rock band Hinder (2001–present).

Cody Hanson was born in Plano, TX, but relocated a year later with his family to Jones, OK, part of metropolitan Oklahoma City. Hanson immediately falling in love with drums when he received his first drum kit as a Christmas present at 12. He spent a couple of years teaching himself how to play. He started a band in middle school, but slowly started to lose interest in the drums by high school and subsequently started to play guitar.

Prior to forming Hinder, Hanson hadn't picked up a drumsticks for about two years. Hanson was studying business and marketing at the University of Central Oklahoma when he rndomly met lead singer Austin Winkler at a college party in 2001. A jam session with Winkler and guitarist Joe "Blower" Garvey eventually led to Hanson quitting school to form a full time band, Hinder. After becoming an official quintet in 2004, Hinder inked a deal with Universal Records and released their debut full-length, Extreme Behavior, in the fall of 2005.
